Title: Nursing Professional Development Specialist, transitioning to role of Director of Professional Development, effective 1/1/21.

Qualifications: Active, unencumbered nursing license; graduate degree with either graduate or undergraduate degree in nursing required; familiar with ANCC accreditation criteria and processes; certification in nursing professional development preferred; member of MNA or other C/SNA of ANA; proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; knowledgeable of web-based learning platforms and management of web site, social media, and other web-based resources.


Start date (approximate) August 2019:

  • Serve as nurse planner for MNA accredited provider unit
    • Plan, implement, and evaluate educational activities in adherence to ANCC accreditation program criteria
    • Maintain activity files, NARS records, and learner participation data
  • Orient to roles of event planner and community liaison
  • Participate in staff support for the Professional Development Council

January 1, 2020 – January 1, 2021:

  • Participate as a member of the Professional Development staff team in carrying out functions to support professional development of members, other nurses in Montana, and approver unit applicants.
  • Serve as nurse planner for MNA accredited provider unit
  • Serve as event planner and community liaison
  • Orient to role of nurse peer review leader for MNA’s accredited approver unit
    • Management of approved providers
    • Management of individual activity applicants
    • Orientation, updating, and monitoring of peer reviewers
  • Participate in development of accredited provider and accredited approver self-studies for ANCC
  • Participate in interview process for hiring and participate in the orientation of new staff member to serve as second nurse planner, event planner, community liaison

Effective January 1, 2021:

  • Assume leadership of MNA’s accredited provider and approver units as Director of Professional Development
  • Serve as a Lead Nurse Planner for MNA accredited provider unit
  • Serve as a Nurse Peer Review Leader for MNA accredited approver unit
